It’s time for Texas to pay the piper.
The Longhorns lost out on the No. 1 ranking in the AP Top 25 poll due to their defeat against Georgia, but that’s not the only thing that has slipped out of their hands. (RELATED: Oregon Holds No. 1 Spot In AP Top 25 Poll For First Time Since 2012, Vanderbilt Comes Into Play After 11-Year Hiatus)
With the third quarter getting near its end in Saturday’s game, the referees ended up making a pass interference call that set off a shockwave across college football. Texas defensive back Jahdae Barron was the player with the bad call after he caught an interception off Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck. Everybody — fans, broadcasters, even Georgia faithful — knew that the call was a horrendous one from the zebras.
I mean, hell, look at it.

But Longhorns fans took it to another level, being so livid to the point where they littered the field with cans and bottles.

After a review of the play, the referees did in fact reverse the call, as they should have, but it honestly didn’t have much impact on the game as Georgia dominated throughout.
Already taking a loss and losing the top spot in the rankings, Texas is now being given even more punishment courtesy of the SEC, who is handing the Longhorns a $250,000 fine for the trash-throwing.
SEC announces Texas will be assessed a financial penalty of $250,000 and also “required to use all available resources, including security, stadium and television video, to identify individuals who threw objects onto the playing field or at the opposing team.”
