Sharon Stone Nearly Keels Over Upon Discovering She’s Related To First Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne

Actress Sharon Stone gasped with astonishment as she discovered she was related to Charlemagne on the upcoming Jan. 28 episode of “Finding Your Roots.”

The famous actress couldn’t find the words to express how stunned she was when host Henry Louis Gates Jr. told her in a preview clip that on her paternal side her lineage “culminates with one of the most famous men who ever lived.”

“Charlemagne is your 38th great-grandfather,” Gates said to Stone. “The first Holy Roman Emperor. He was a mean dude.”

Stone’s mouth gaped open in dismay as she slowly processed the shocking information.

“Charlemagne was my grandfather,” she repeated slowly.

Gates clarified, “Your 38th great-grandfather,” before he continued, “The first Holy Roman emperor.”

Stone repeated “no!” while processing the news.

Gates went on to tell her a bit more about the distant relative she once didn’t know she had.

“He’s one of the most important people in history, of course, and he basically created modern Europe, with an iron will,” he said.

The famous actress admitted she was struggling to wrap her mind around this new information.

“Well if you wanna see someone whose mind is completely blown, here it is,” she said to Gates.

The narrator explained that her father’s side of the family was traced far back, to the “very distant past,” and they uncovered that she was the descendant of two French kings, as well as Charlemagne, who ruled in Europe during the 8th century. Charlemagne is often referred to as the “father of Europe” for his huge and long-lasting influence on the territory in the Middle Ages, having ruled over a large portion of Western Europe, including the areas that today make up Germany and France.
