True to his campaign promise, on Day One, President Donald Trump granted pardons to approximately 1,500 people charged in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

The following day, however, brought more sobering news, especially for defendants who happen to live in Pennsylvania. Unhappy with the pardons, Philadelphia’s far-left District Attorney Larry Krasner told CNN’s Marshall Cohen on Tuesday that he is currently “exploring state charges” against Jan. 6 defendants who reside in the state.

When Krasner was asked about possible legal hurdles he might face, such as double jeopardy, he replied, “You can have a state prosecution for conduct that was not fully encompassed in the federal prosecution.” Krasner said his office is scrutinizing federal charging documents “to identify any actions that may have been omitted and are not covered by the pardons.”

“To the extent the federal charging encompasses everything we’re talking about, then this argument probably fails, but I am very doubtful that it encompasses everything that we’re talking about,” Krasner said.

That’s right: As the rate of violent crime continues to rise, year over year, in the City of Brotherly Love, Krasner has directed his staff to pore over the federal charging documents of state residents involved in the Capitol riot, many of whom have already spent four years languishing in a Washington jail. The offenses committed by most of the Jan. 6 defendants pale in comparison to the violence that unfolds in Philadelphia on any given Saturday night.

Krasner sounds as if he’s channeling Lavrentiy Beria, Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin’s ruthless secret police chief, who once famously said, “Show me the man and I’ll show you the crime.” He is literally searching for a crime to charge these people with.

Finally, Krasner’s hypocrisy and partisanship reached a fever pitch. He told Cohen, “Those of us who actually believe in the rule of law … and actually believe in order — in other words, those of us who are not MAGA — intend to preserve the values, traditions, laws, and Constitution of the United States. And that means accountability for the co-conspirators of the 34-time felon president.”

He does not believe in the rule of law. If he did, he wouldn’t have “dropped charges against Philly rioters from the Riots of May-June 2020, October 2020, and August 2023,” as reported by PhillyCrimeUpdate.

His soft-on-crime ethos has made Philadelphia a far more dangerous place since he took office in January 2018. According to an October 2024 report from WalletHub, Philadelphia ranked 174th out of 184 U.S. cities in terms of safety.

Krasner is one of many district attorneys in the U.S. who are backed by billionaire activist George Soros. He funds their campaigns, and once elected, they do his bidding. This is not to say that Krasner actually requires much prodding. He’s all about prosecuting patriots and going easy on actual criminals.

No one is more keenly aware of the influence local politicians can have on a community, a county, or a state than Soros. For years, he has quietly and systematically worked to elect progressive candidates such as Krasner to powerful district attorney positions and other key roles in local governments throughout the country.

His efforts have paid off. The distinct relationship between these Soros-backed prosecutors and the rising crime rates in the cities and counties under their jurisdictions has become glaring.

Prosecutorial discretion has a direct impact on the criminal justice system and, by extension, the daily lives of citizens. The good news is that voters are beginning to recognize the tremendous power these district attorneys wield. They notice the devastation that Soros’s silent assault on our system of criminal justice has wrought.

There’s no doubt the wokest among us will continue to call for emptying our prisons and going soft on criminals in the name of diversity and equity. But there is reason to believe that those in the middle, including independents and even centrist Democrats, are making the connection between the morally bankrupt billionaire’s manipulation of local races and spiking crime rates.

In a sign that voters may be waking up, of the “25 Soros-linked district attorneys on the ballot in November, 12 were either defeated or recalled,” according to Fox News. The phrase “all politics is local,” coined decades ago by former House Speaker Tip O’Neill, has never been more applicable.
