“Spider-Man” star Tom Holland wasted no time jumping into the role of a real-life hero when a fight broke out in a Los Angeles grocery store.
The actor recalled the incident during an interview with Men’s Health published Thursday. Holland said that, while recently attempting to run an errand at Whole Foods, a fight broke out between two men — when his Spidey senses kicked in during the heat of the moment.
“They’re, like, going at it right behind me,” Holland recalled.
The actor said he jumped into the mix and grabbed one of the men in an effort to break up the altercation. As he intervened, he said it became obvious his cover had been blown.
“I can see that he’s recognized me immediately, and you could see the wheels turning, like, I’m really angry, but Spider-Man is telling me to calm down,” Holland told the outlet. “So, yeah, I go to the supermarket.”
He rose to the occasion in character in this particular instance, but Holland made it clear that the curtain will eventually close on his stardom.
The actor said he has always had his sights set on a more normal lifestyle, though he admitted he’s quite happy being Spider-Man for the moment. He said he knows precisely when he plans to step out of the spotlight.
“When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore,” he said. “Golf and dad. And I will just disappear off the face of the earth.” (RELATED: Matt Damon, Tom Holland To Star In Christopher Nolan’s Top Secret New Project)
