Shoutout to the ‘Burgh!
An email was sent out by the Pittsburgh Steelers to both upset fans and season-ticket holders who whined about quarterback Mason Rudolph and special teams captain Miles Killebrew making an appearance at a recent Trump rally.
Obtained by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette via a season-ticket holder, the Steelers stated in the email that current players and alumni “make their own individual decisions” and none of their opinions and actions represent the franchise’s views.
There was nothing set up whatsoever by the Steelers in terms of Rudolph and Killebrew showing up at the Trump rally. However, that didn’t stop some fans from getting livid about the situation, dishing out letters, social media posts and emails to the organization. Pittsburgh’s email to fans read, “We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us. As valued fans, your voice is an essential part of what makes our Steelers community and fan base so strong.
“We understand that a recent rally in Pittsburgh has generated a range of reactions from our fan base. Our alumni and current players make their own individual decisions that reflect their views, and they do not necessarily represent the view of the entire Pittsburgh Steelers organization. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. We appreciate your passion and your continued support of the team.”
Burt Lauten, a spokesperson for the Steelers, gave confirmation that the franchise issued the email.
