As someone who grew up near Charlotte, I don’t necessarily want to see this beef, but I have my popcorn regardless.
Cam Newton, a former superstar quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, is currently catching some heat for how he talked about his old team, specifically the 2011 edition of the Queen City football franchise. Newton said that the locker room was full of “losers,” and he viewed his teammates like this literally as soon as he came into the NFL. Speaking on “The Travis Hunter Show,” Newton talked about the pressures of being a No. 1 overall pick and brought up the “losers” that he joined up with in 2011. That Carolina team went a dismal 2-14.
“My issue is, when I was the first pick, I went into a locker room of losers,” said Newton. “Guys didn’t know how to win … Not everybody can be impact players.”

Well, Panthers legend and former superstar receiver Steve Smith caught whiff of Newton’s comments, and he wasn’t happy. Smith and Newton played together in Carolina for three years.
“None of us are perfect. Yes, we were 2-14 before you blessed us [with your] presence. The way you have talked about [The Panthers] lately, I’m very disappointed,” tweeted Smith.
I’ve watched & listened from a far as U @CameronNewton

I blame David Tepper for this, just because I want to … SELL THE DAMN TEAM!
