Another “mostly peaceful protest” brought to you by @GavinNewsom.

It started when Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth posted a picture on X of a car burning during the LA anti-ICE riots, accompanied by the words, “Another ‘mostly peaceful protest’ brought to you by Gavin Newsom.” California’s governor responded, equating the politically organized and funded criminal behavior in Los Angeles with Philadelphia Eagles fans’ celebrations after winning the Super Bowl.
It was the typical deflection from Newsom that most have come to expect over the years. As someone born and raised in Philadelphia and who has been to Eagles victory celebrations, I can say with absolute certainty that Newsom’s statement was a vast oversimplification. For the most part, while I always try to maintain some vigilance while roaming Philadelphia, given its high crime rate, I’ve never had to worry about being brutally attacked by a left-wing agenda-driven mob causing me physical harm there. I never had to worry about protecting friends and family members at an Eagles celebration.
First, there have never been any Eagles fans throwing cinderblocks at law enforcement agency vehicles when fans have celebrated in the streets after the NFL team’s recent Super Bowl wins. Next, Eagles fans, for the most part, gathered in designated areas of the city to go wild. They didn’t march all over the city, causing mayhem. Any rowdiness was typically confined to a designated area. Last, any celebrations that did occur only lasted for a few hours on one night, not consecutive days of havoc as in Los Angeles.
This isn’t to say there weren’t some bad actors and knuckleheads who were up to no good and committed some criminal acts. There were, and the Washington Examiner reported on those arrested for assaulting police officers, vandalism, and disorderly conduct. And those arrested at the Eagles’ celebration deserve to be punished for their crimes. However, for Newsom to compare the two is a false equivalency and intellectually disingenuous, and he knows it.
Incidentally, short of concerns of protecting myself from the city’s violent criminal class and keeping my head on a swivel anytime I walk around, the only time I genuinely had to worry about being physically harmed while in the presence of a mob of people, was when Philadelphia’s left-wing activists go wild and try to cause as much destruction in the city as possible, such as during the George Floyd riots in the city.
It’s left-wing violence that is at the root of these safety concerns and causes of destruction, not a wild professional sports fan base.
GAVIN NEWSOM SIDES WITH VIOLENT, RIOTING THUGS
But honesty isn’t meaningful to Newsom. Similar to his responses rife with misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic or the lack of veracity in his explanation for dining at the French Laundry and violating his own lockdown rules, he doesn’t care about being truthful. His sole concerns are deflection and deception, using both to influence public opinion and maintain political power.
These LA riots are directly related to Newsom’s horrific immigration policies, which have enabled criminal illegal immigrants to seek refuge in his state. Trump is tasked with cleaning up Newsom’s mess; the rioters are the resistance to that. Newsome knows the legacy media are sympathetic to his objectives and beliefs, so he can get away with lying, misleading, and not telling a shred of truth about the root cause of the riots. He will not endure any accountability for his political failures.
