No country can preserve its sovereignty without border security. That explains why there was once a time when building a border wall was treated as common sense.
It may shock you to find out that the Obama administration built more than 100 miles of border wall. In 2014, a new nickname for then-President Barack Obama caught on when Janet Murguía, president of the National Council on La Raza, a left-wing Latino advocacy group, called him “the deporter-in-chief.”
He held that record until President Joe Biden took office. Indeed, President Donald Trump’s deportation record isn’t as strong as you might think. During Trump’s first term in office, he deported about 1.2 million illegal immigrants. Obama removed approximately 1.57 million in his first term and 1.49 million illegal immigrants in his second four years. Biden booted 4.7 million illegal immigrants.
Of course, this is only one side of the coin regarding Biden’s immigration record. The cost of Biden’s border incompetence was astronomical. The former president’s logic was equivalent to filling a bucket full of holes with water. Biden left the border wide open and then had the public pay to have some illegal immigrants removed. Things have now changed. In the aftermath of the tragic murders of Jocelyn Nungaray, Rachel Morin, Ruby Garcia, Laken Riley, and others, Americans voted for safer communities via Trump.
Except, while the new Trump administration has just begun its efforts to return illegal immigrants with criminal convictions to their home countries, the media is already painting this just action as a great moral offense. This propaganda is destructive. Our own citizens have forgotten our laws. So, apparently, have the media.
Consider what happened when White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked at a press briefing this week how many of the people being deported were actual criminals or just in the country illegally. Leavitt responded, “All of them, because they illegally broke our nation’s laws, and therefore, they are criminals.” She added, “I know the last administration didn’t see it that way, so it’s a big culture shift in our nation to view someone who breaks our immigration laws as a criminal, but that’s exactly what they are.”
You may be surprised to hear that Obama spoke in a similar fashion against illegal immigration. In November 2014, he addressed the nation, reiterating his campaign promise to “fix the broken immigration system.” He spoke of securing the borders by adding more agents and technology than ever in American history. In this same speech, he said something very similar to what we heard from Leavitt. Obama observed, “Even as we are a nation of immigrants, we’re also a nation of laws. Undocumented workers broke our immigration laws, and I believe that they must be held accountable, especially those who may be dangerous.”
This was not a call for sanctuary cities. It was the opposite. Obama was making it clear the country is safer when people obey the law and come legally. Why did so many in the media turn on this message?
Because they hate Trump more than they like their principles, but Obama was right when he declared that his decision to deport illegal immigrants was not extreme. As he put it, “The actions I’m taking are not only lawful, they’re the kind of actions taken by every single Republican president and every single Democratic president for the past half-century.”
Deporting criminal illegal immigrants is not new, and it’s not bad. The spread of sanctuary cities is what is bad in this country. And as the media escalate fear, more cities are boldly declaring that they will protect criminals. Social media posts are flooding the internet from cities such as Chicago, Grand Rapids, San Francisco, Boston, and Denver. Tom Homan was asked on Fox News what was holding him back from catching and deporting more criminal migrants. His immediate response was to acknowledge sanctuary cities. These are communities where local authorities refuse to cooperate with ICE efforts to detain criminal illegal immigrants.

The fact remains, however, that the truth about how past administrations protected our borders has maliciously been kept from the public in order to pad the propaganda attacks on Trump. But all the president is doing is demanding secure borders, safe communities, and empowered law enforcement,
There is nothing controversial about that. At least there shouldn’t be.
