‘The Office’ Star Jenna Fischer Shares Devastating Health Update

‘The Office” star Jenna Fischer shared a message Tuesday to Instagram revealing she was diagnosed with Stage 1 triple-positive breast cancer in December 2023.

“October is breast cancer awareness month. I never thought I’d be making an announcement like this but here we are,” she told her 3.9 million followers. The famous actress shared a family photo and snapshots of a written message she wanted to share with her fans. “After completing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation I am now cancer free,” she wrote.

Fischer went on to say, “I wanted a photo of myself in my patchy pixie looking happy and healthy to go along with this news. A big thank you to Angela Kinsey’s husband Josh Snyder for taking this photo. It’s just one example of the care they showed me during this journey.”

The slides she posted alongside the message captured the grueling treatment she endured as part of her battle against the disease.

“Back in October of 2023 I posted a photo of myself on Instagram preparing for my routine mammogram with a joking reminder to ‘take care of your ticking time bags’ a la Michael Scott,” she said.

Fischer explained the mammogram came back inconclusive and she pursued a breast ultrasound, followed by a biopsy, which ultimately led to the diagnosis.

She described triple-positive breast cancer as being “an aggressive form of breast cancer,” but noted “it is also highly responsive to treatment.”

“The Office” star opened up to fans, telling them she underwent a lumpectomy in January and had the tumor removed. She said her “cancer was caught early and it hadn’t spread into lymph nodes or throughout the rest of [her] body,” but she still required 12 rounds of chemotherapy in February, followed by three weeks of radiation in June.

Fischer explained how she managed to keep her diagnosis private until she was ready to talk about it publicly.

“I lost my hair during chemotherapy but thanks to some great wigs and hats with hair (which my family affectionately called Wigats) I have been able to wait until now to reveal all that has been going on for me,” she said.

Fischer admitted her life was immediately flipped upside down and she is still processing through some medical treatments.

“And while I continue to be treated with infusions of Herceptin and a daily dose of Tamoxifen, I’m happy to say I’m feeling great,” Fischer wrote.

“As anyone who has had a cancer diagnosis knows, your life changes immediately. It becomes all about doctor appointments, test results, treatments and recovering from treatments. Suddenly everything in your life is geared around one thing: fighting cancer,” she said. (RELATED: ‘Boy Meets World’ Star Danielle Fishel Reveals Shocking Health Update)

Fischer urged fans to stay on top of their health and noted that if she had waited six months or so, she may have missed the window of opportunity to beat the disease.
