I’m starting to think nothing’s ever gonna change here … I hope I’m wrong.
Marissa Rothenberger is a transgender (biological male) high school softball player who, as a sophomore, assisted Champlin Park in winning 14 consecutive games prior to the kickoff of the Minnesota state playoffs, per OutKick.
The Minnesota State High School Coaches Association rewarded Rothenberger with First-Team All-State honors, and the trans player was only underclassman to be named to the First-Team out of all 4A high schools in Minnesota. Per Reduxx, who cited documents they obtained, the mother of Rothenberger “applied to the Hennepin County District Court to alter [the athlete’s] birth certificate shortly after his 9th birthday. The petition was approved, and Rothenberger was issued a new birth certificate showing that he was born ‘female’ and altering his name from ‘Charlie Dean’ to ‘Marissa.’”
It’s not required in Minnesota for a birth certificate to get a mark after a person transitions. If a male identifies as a female, that’s it as far as the state government sees it. And that’s exactly why Rothenberger is allowed to participate in softball.
Well, Rothenberger has been rollin’ this season, and that only continued Tuesday, reports say. Per Town Hall’s Dustin Grage, Rothenberger’s team pulled off a shutout victory against Maple Grove, a top team in the state of Minnesota, allowing only one hit. Champlin won the game 2-0.
