PGA x LIV x Trump … three brands that need to be together at this point.
Since he made the announcement in June 2023 that the PGA Tour had agreed on a deal with the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), the former’s commissioner, Jay Monahan, has spoken to the media multiple times. However, there hasn’t been much confidence regarding actual unity in the sport of men’s golf.
That was until Wednesday when Monahan gave us the deets regarding a meeting he had recently with President Donald Trump, doing so with the press at Torrey Pines as the PGA prepared for the Genesis Invitational. Now, granted, the commissioner still wasn’t clear and once again claimed that a PGA and PIF deal is on the horizon (like we haven’t heard that before). With that being said, though, he did give us something for the first time, and that was saying that golf’s best talent could once again play on “one tour.” And one person helping out with the effort is none other than President Trump.
“It was a very productive visit,” said Monahan about his meeting with the president. “I think you all have been around him enough to know how passionate he is about the game of golf. For him to respond to our request to sit down and talk about how we achieve what he stated publicly as a goal, which is the game of golf operating under one tour with all the top players playing on that one tour, was a great opportunity. We had a really productive conversation.”
“I think the meeting ultimately gets us one step closer to a deal being done, but there’s a lot more work to do. Hopefully you sense my enthusiasm as I talk about it today.”

My question … What can President Trump not do?
