ALP, a new nicotine pouch brand positioned as an alternative to Zyn and launched by Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson, is poised to “upend” the industry, according to a November survey.

Over 86% of American nicotine pouch users say they are likely to switch to ALP, according to a survey by Nicokick, an online nicotine retailer.

“It’s clear the introduction of Tucker Carlson’s brand Alp should have a significant impact on the nicotine market, not only with current pouch users, but also with consumers of other forms of smoking and tobacco products,” Marina Murphy, Nicokick’s senior director of scientific affairs, told Tobacco Reporter.

Carlson partnered with Turning Point Brands to launch ALP as an alternative to Zyn, using the slogan “Bye Zyn. Buy Alp.” Daily Caller publisher Neil Patel is also a co-owner of ALP and the co-founder of the Tucker Carlson Network.

Carlson became disillusioned with Zyn after learning that owners and employees of its parent company, Philip Morris International (PMI), had donated thousands of dollars to Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign, as well as to other left-wing causes. Alongside employees contributing thousands of dollars to the Harris campaign, PMI received a “Woke Alert” from consumer advocacy group Consumers’ Research. The group issued a report claiming PMI was “fully woke, prioritizing DEI and gender ideology initiatives above all else.”

PMI Chief Diversity Officer Mimi Kurniawan said her primary objective was “establishing DEI at the heart of our organization.”

“There’s no reason consumers should be forced to buy nicotine pouches from soulless, pronoun loving, politicized conglomerates that despise them and their culture,” Carlson said in a November statement. “With ALP, they now have an alternative that is delicious and far better than Zyn, which in case you haven’t noticed is as dry as a teabag.”

The pouches, now shipping nationwide, are available in three strengths — 3mg, 6mg and 9mg — and four flavors: Chilled Mint, Mountain Wintergreen, Refreshing Chill and Tropical Fruit.
