We’ve got a little drama getting cooked up in the rugby world! And it involves America!
Alev Kelter, a star on the United States Rugby women’s team, was ejected from Saturday’s game against Australia after she stomped on the head of an opponent.
Kelter was disqualified from the contest, and will be forced to attend a judicial hearing and could possibly be hit with a long suspension.
The violation took place during the 79th minute of Pacific Four Series action following official Aimee Barrett-Theron determining that Kelter had stomped on her opponent’s head on purpose. The opp was Australia center Georgie Friedrichs. (RELATED: Dave Portnoy Blasts WNBA As League Launches Investigation Into Alleged ‘Hateful Comments’ Against Angel Reese)
You can see the video of the stomping here.
Barrett-Theron was caught on hot mics saying, “12 blue [Kelter] is going to receive a permanent red card because this is thuggery, it is deliberate, and it is very dangerous foul play.
“She’s clearly stamped on the head of the Australian player. That’s reckless, that’s dangerous, and she’s going off.”
Australia defeated the United States, 27-19.

You know, if Alev Kelter would have done this in a win, she probably could have gotten away with this here in the United States. But the fact that she did this in a loss, embarrassing the beauty of the red, white and blue on the international stage … what a horrible look.
Let’s do better, Alev. This isn’t it.
