The private jet belonging to Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil was involved in a fatal collision Feb. 11 with another airplane at Scottsdale Airport.
Neil’s legal representatives issued a statement confirming the famous singer was not aboard the plane at the time of the crash. Sources close to the situation said Neil’s girlfriend, Rain, her friend Ashley, and their dogs were traveling inside the jet, and are all expected to survive, according to TMZ. Both women were rushed to hospital for immediate medical care. Initial reports from TMZ’s insider suggest that Rain suffered 5 broken ribs.
Mötley Crüe issued a statement saying the pilot of Neil’s jet was tragically killed, but provided no further information about the individual, according to TMZ. (RELATED: Ozzy Osbourne Sued For Sharing Photos Of Himself)
“At 2:39 p.m. local time, a Learjet aircraft Model 35A owned by Vince Neil was attempting to land at the Scottsdale Airport. For reasons unknown at this time, the plane veered from the runway causing it to collide with another parked plane. On board Mr. Neil’s plane were two pilots and two passengers,” the statement reads.
Emergency personnel immediately responded and airport officials temporarily shut down the runway so officials could conduct a formal investigation, according to TMZ. Preliminary findings suggest the left main landing gear may have failed as the plane was landing.
Fire Captain Dave Folio confirmed one person was on board the Gulfstream jet, and said two people involved in the collision were taken to nearby trauma centers in critical condition, while another individual was taken to a hospital in stable condition. A fourth person refused medical treatment.
“Mr. Neil’s thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today,” the band’s legal team said in its statement.
