If you want a piece of the vulgar New Era Overlap 59FIFTY hat collection from Major League Baseball, be prepared to pay some major money.
New Era, who is the official on-field hat provider for MLB, revealed the collection Monday, and quite frankly, it’s horrible. The brand’s design, made up for all 30 franchises in the league, has the logo of the team placed right on top of the organization’s name. On some of the hats, it’s the name of the team’s city.
Fanatics have the hats on sale on their official website for $44.99 — some of them that is.
Following the release of the caps, the good folks on social media almost immediately noticed a few … err … issues with them. And that was especially true when it came to the Texas Rangers. (RELATED: Texas Rangers Forced To Remove Hat From Online Store After Quite The Vulgar Mistake)
New Era slapped the Rangers‘ “T” logo on top of Texas and it ended up replacing “X,” which spelled out “TETAS.” In Spanish, that translates to “tits.”
The company removed the hats off their website once they became aware of the vulgarity.
But it wasn’t just the Rangers’ caps that got pulled, so did the Los Angeles Angels’ that spelled out “ANAELS” and the Houston Astros’ that had the name “ASHOS.”
If you want one of the removed caps though, you can still grab one on eBay. However, you’ll have to pay a ton of money to get it. We’re talking about a nearly full $1,000 at $950.
And just … wow.
