If you’re not amazed at Caitlin Clark’s play, you’re just a blatant hater.
Indiana Fever phenom Caitlin Clark immediately reconquered the WNBA when she came back from her injury, doing so forcefully Saturday night while ending the undefeated stretch from the New York Liberty, who are the defending champions by the way.
During the 102-88 victory that the Fever got to see them get win No. 5 of the campaign, Clark racked up 32 points with a lot of them coming from seven three-pointers. She even saw an absolutely unbelievable stretch where she hit three three-pointers in 38 seconds. It was such an incredible scene that even a WNBA legend like Rebecca Lobo is raining down praise. Lobo, a Basketball Hall of Famer, spoke about the performance from Clark and how much of an impact she has on the WNBA’s ratings. While Clark was away, the league witnessed declining viewership numbers.
“It means a lot more people are paying attention once again,” stated Lobo on the Monday edition of “First Take” on ESPN. “We know how much Caitlin drives ratings. We know how much Caitlin drives attention on the WNBA. For her to come back and do it in that way was just ridiculous.”
“I’m sitting there at the end of the first quarter when she had that 38-second stretch where she drained deep three after deep three after deep three. I was just sitting there thinking, I’ve been around this league since 1997. I have never seen that in a WNBA game. Have we seen players go on runs? Of course, we have, but not like that, not where a couple of the 3-pointers are from 30-plus feet.”
