I’m utterly disgusted as a WWE fan.
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) made the announcement Monday that the 2026 edition of their iconic “Royal Rumble” premium live event will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a huge blow to professional wrestling fans (like myself) who believe the marquee PLE is All-American and should stay in the United States. Since its beginning, the “Royal Rumble” has mainly been held in America, with its first time going outside of the U.S. being in 1988 when WWE held the event in Ontario — which can be forgiven because it’s Canada and Americans can still go. The 2025 “Royal Rumble” in February will be in Indianapolis.
“WWE is a global enterprise and it only made sense to expand our relationship with the Kingdom by bringing one of our biggest annual events to Riyadh in January of 2026,” stated WWE president Nick Khan in a press release.
WWE has announced that for the first time ever, the #RoyalRumble will take place outside North America when it heads to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in January 2026!

I’m cool with Saudi Arabia having “Crown Jewel,” I’m even cool with them having “King and Queen of the Ring,” but them having the “Royal Rumble” is completely unacceptable.
It’s an all-American event that should stay in the United States. Point, blank, period.
